Mesquite Junior High’s Shannon M. Carter has been named the school’s Employee of the Year for the 2025/2026 school year! Mrs. Carter, who serves as both an Instructional Coach and a Mathematics teacher, was honored during a campus assembly and the district Employee of the Year event for her contributions to student achievement and staff development.

As an Instructional Coach, Mrs. Carter fosters a collaborative environment built on curiosity and accessibility. Often described as a "rock" for the campus, she is recognized for her reliability and a leadership style that prioritizes a supportive culture for both veteran and new educators.

In the classroom, Carter utilizes a mix of strategies designed to make complex mathematical concepts more engaging for students. Her expertise in the subject matter is balanced by a commitment to student investment, frequently staying beyond contract hours to provide additional support.

"Shannon goes above and beyond in every task," said Principal Kari Castro. "She consistently keeps the best interests of her students at heart, ensuring they have the tools necessary for advancement."

Thank you, Mrs. Carter, for your dedication to the long-term success of the Mesquite Junior High community!
